RULES Ah, rules. Everyone hates them, I know, but they exist for a reason. 1: Committment -- Once you sign up for a character and join in a story we expect you to stick with us until the story is done or your character can be believably written out. Do NOT join and then vanish without notice for an ungodly amount of time. It is unfair to the other players. We understand that life happens and you won't be able to get online sometimes. We'd appreciate you letting us know somehow, either by posting in the 'Away' thread or by letting a staff member know thought PM, IM, or email. If you are absent without notice for longer than two weeks, you will recieve an email from the staff inquiring as to why. If you do not respond within a few days, your profile will be moved to the MIA section and your character can be given to someone else if you do not return. If you come back and find your profile is in the MIA section and you want to resume play of your character you may, pending a staff discussion (only under extreme circumstances). 2: Characters-- The starting limit for characters is three, and two of those characters MUST be from the comics. Senior members can have up to five characters and at least two of these must be from the comics. If you only want ONE character I would strongly reccomend choosing a comic character until the main slots are filled, but this is not mandatory. Later on, you can trade a minor character for another canon (that is available) or another OC.
4: Powergaming -- There are many super-powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, I know. However, there is a line between playing a character true to personality and power and completely overdoing it and becoming a powergamer or God-Modder. Automatically assuming your character (especially an OC) is the ultimate mutant badass god will get you a severe smack-down from Apocalypse (who, as I may note, is not available to play and I hope is never involved in-game). Do not tempt fate. Everyone has a weakness and that weakness (be it power-related or personality-related) will be exploited to its fullest to create a well-rounded and balanced character. 5: Gameplay -- Everything we do is written in third-person, past-tense. We will start out by playing a set story, just to get a feel for the Alternative Universe I have set up for you all. Eventually we will be able to separate into smaller-scale stories, more personal and character driven (or not, depending on how you want to play). Every now and then I will interrupt the flow of minigames for a major story arc to keep things flowing (like a comic book series >_>). We don't expect you to be brilliant writers, but please try to keep some level of quality to your posts. Don't post five pages of nonsense and, conversely, don' post one sentence and expect it to fly. Elabortation is key, but use your best judgement. If you can only write a paragraph to get your point across (such as quick spots of dialogue) then do it and do it well. Above all, have fun! |
