Keeping Your Cool During a Duel; Calmness is essential

You can't win a duel if you allow yourself to become flustered. I know this from personal experience. For example, I'm dueling my brother and I've lost 2 or 3 times in a row. If I let myself become angry and vengeful, then I won't think through my actions or pay close enough attention to the duel. He'll keep winning, and I'll keep getting flustered, until I finally give up.

However, though that used to happen, it hasn't for quite some time. Why? Because I learned that I need to keep myself under control while dueling. Here are a few strategies to do so:

*Remind yourself that even if you lose this duel, you'll be able to try again during the next one.
*Tell yourself that it's just a game, and it doesn't matter whether you win or lose as long as you've enjoyed yourself.
*Deliberately slow down your moves so that you have time to overcome your frustration and analyze the situation fully.

As well, it's wise to try and make your opponent the angry or, better yet, hopeless one. The card Magic Cylinder is an absolutely perfect device for doing this. It is, to me, the single most demoralizing card in the entire game of Duel Monsters. I used to run a BEWD deck, and if I got nailed by one of those after a BEWD attack -- ouch! Even when it's turned against a weaker monster like Ryu Kokki or Vampire Lord, it's still painful. Thus, I recommend that all duelists sideboard Magic Cylinder. Some opponents will immune to frustratrion, but if you encounter one who's prone to explosions, or who gives up fairly easily, maindeck the Cylinder.

So don't let yourself become too emotionally involved in the game, and you'll win a lot more often.

i agree. most of the time, if u become flustered, u'll miss an obvious move, which just makes things worse. and, like u said, its a game, and the point of games is to have fun. even if u see ur going to lose and have no hope, lighten up. never get so serious about it that u stomp off angry after losing. just lose, laugh, and try again.

Yep. I had to do that a LOT when running Blue-Eyes.

Yah, don't let yourself get flustered. As stated it just leads to mistakes being made. Just be friendly and somewhat serious, but not too serious. But that is up to you really, just don't let it effect your attitude towards your opponent and the duel.
Just enjoy yourself and have fun winning or losing. Everyone loses some, just learn from the losses and try again.
Do your best at all times, don't let the game or your opponent psych you out.

Even if your opponent pulls out a J-Word or K-Word on you, it's not the end of the world. Just hope you draw Lightning Vortex.

Yah, there is no unbeatable monster (practically). Just hope that you draw the correct card to save your butt from a lot of hurt.

WHAT DID YOU DO TO CENTRAL?
I used to get angry when Gravity Bind is played against me. So I just pull out my Fiber Jar to get my opponent sort of angry. But sometimes when I'm angry, I hurt myself when I play Fiber Jar. Because I could have the perfect trap set for my opponent, draw Fiber Jar, and forget about the "perfect trap". So it's good to keep cool.

ah, it is teh same with all of yor cards. Depends on how you use them. For you could have the most powerful card imaginable, but still use it wrong becasue of your own misjudgment or anything that got to you.

Indeed. Way too many people are now hollering that luck is the only factor in dueling. It isn't.
