Dark Paladin A Decent Monster With Severe Limitations The Dark Paladin deck has recently been gaining popularity. And it’s true that the card Dark Paladin is extremely powerful. He has 2900 atk, a built-in Magic Jammer effect, and he gains 500 atk points for every dragon on the field and in either player’s graveyard. However, he’s a Nomi -- he can only be Special Summoned by Fusion Summon. That means no Metamorphosis. In addition, his strength against dragons isn’t likely to help you. Dragon decks aren’t the most common decktype by a long shot. No, his main strength is his Magic Jammer effect. Discard a card from yoru hand to negate a Spell card. IMO, this guy is way over-rated. Horus LV8 is a bit more difficult to get out and he takes a bit longer, but he can negate any Spell Card without discard. He’s a selective Imperial Order! In addition, he has 100 more ATK points than Dark Paladin. Of course, if Dark Paladin went directly toe-to-toe with Horus, he’d win due to his special effect, but neither decktype is common enough for this scenario to often occur. Both Horus and Dark Paladin, once they hit the graveyard, won’t be returning. However, let’s say you’re a fan of Dark Paladin. He is a fairly decent monster, after all, and running him in a casual deck will probably be fun. There’s one major question you’ll need to address before you start building your deck: should you run Dark Magician or Buster Blader? Both Dark Magician and Buster Blader are high-level monsters, so running both would not be wise at all. I’ll post a sample deck utilizing Buster Blader, and one using Dark Magician, so you can decide for yourself which version you’d like to run. Personally, I’ll have to side with the Blader -- he’s a bit easier to bring to your hand or the field, and he has more ATK points (though hopefully you won’t need to play him). Check out sample Dark Paladin decks over in the Deck Discussion forum. |

yah, that card WAS quite popular when it was released, but now it sorta just died....it is a fun card to use and it has its perks, but eh. I don't think it is all that great. |
