Gravekeepers A Swarming, Versatile Decktype Gravekeepers are a type of monster that, like Archfiends, aren’t distinguished by their type. They’re known for their name and are all the Spellcaster type. Gravekeepers are an extremely versatile and powerful decktype with amazing swarming capabilities and a stupendous field magic card. Let’s take a look at each Gravekeeper, then construct a sample Gravekeeper deck. Gravekeeper’s Spy has a powerful 2000 defense. Its flip effect is that you get to summon any Gravekeeper with 1500 atk or less (and all but one Gravekeeper has 1500 atk or less) from your deck in face-up atk or defense position. Spy should be run in 3s in any Gravkeeper deck. Next up is Gravekeeper’s Curse. With puny stats of 800/800, he’d better have a good effect. His effect is mediocre at best -- 500 points of burn damage to your opponent’s LP whenever he’s Normal Summoned, Special Summoned, or Flip Summoned. I guess you could pull off a Tsuku combo with him, but I don’t think it would be worth it. Gravkeeper’s Guard is an excellent monster. It has Hane-Hane’s effect and a strong 1900 def. I’d run at least 2 in my Gravekeeper deck. Gravekeeper’s Servant is a 1500 atk monster with Trample -- when powered up with Necrovalley, he has 2000 attack! Run 3 in your Gravekeeper deck. Gravekeeper’s Vassal has 700 atk, and Battle Damage from it is treated as Effect Damage. Meh. Just not worth it. Same with Gravekeeper’s Watcher, who has a very situational effect. Ah, the very powerful Gravekeeper’s Chief. With 1900 attack, he is the strongest Gravekeeper. With Necrovalley out, he’s powered up to 2400 atk, the standard for 1-tribute monsters like him. You can only have 1 copy of him face-up on your side of the field at a time, and he negates Necrovalley’s effect on your graveyard. Plus, he allows you to summon a Gravekeeper from your Graveyard when he’s Tribute Summoned. I’d run a copy of him. I’d also run a copy of Gravekeeper’s Cannonholder, who’s Cannon Soldier for Gravekeepers (except he does 700 damage and can’t tribute himself). The last Gravekeeper monster is Gravekeeper’s Assailant. When he attacks, you can change the battle position of a card on the field. I’d run 2 copies of him. With 1500 atk, he can take out the Monarchs and many other powerful cards via his effect (since it activates at the beginning of the attack). There’s also Charm of Shabti, a souped-up Kuriboh for Gravekeepers, but I wouldn’t run him. On to Rite of Spirit. It’s the Gravekeeper’s Book of Life, and it’s immune to Necrovalley’s effect! I’d run 3. And last, but certainly not least, is Necrovalley. This is the backbone of your deck, so run 3 copies of it. It powers up all Gravekeepers by 500 in both atk and def, and stops both players from affecting the Graveyard with monster effects, spell cards, or traps! It also prevents both of you from removing monsters in the Graveyard from play, crippling Chaos. All in all, Gravekeepers are great! I’ve posted a sample deck in the Deck Discussion forum -- use my stickied index to get to it. |

don't forget the usefullness of terraforming though...mostly b/c, as u said, necro is the backbone of the deck. they can win w/o it, but to cripple chaos, necro is a must. although i just remembered, u skipped over Royal Tribute and Cat of Ill Omen, both of which rely on necro....he, he, had to kill it, still good though |

Oh, I just searched for "Gravekeeper" on yugioh-deck and looked at all the cards that came up. Did you know that if you have Necrovalley on the field, you activate Magical Hats, and you choose Gravekeeper's Servant as one of your s/t cards, that spell card will actually acquire stats of 500/500? Kinda cool. |

You mean yugioh-deck.com? I went to a tourny a few months ago and in the third round faced a GK deck. To make a long story short, I was slaughtered in about two minutes. |

Nice review there. Yah, Grave Keepers are cool monsters to use. Swarm your opponent to death...and it is fun to kill Grave Keepers too hehehe. But yah, they are a good deck type to build around. |
| I will kill anyone who dares stand in my way of world conquest! *ehem* I mean, if I am opposed you shall indeed regret it! | |
