My first Deck Garage article will fix ToiletPaper101's burn deck. Here's the email he sent me:
Well, this deck won't need too many changes, but there are several choices Toilet made that I disagree with. Let's start with the monsters: Monsters - {14} Lava Golem Lava Golem Solar Flare Dragon Solar Flare Dragon Raging Flame Sprite Raging Flame Sprite Raging Flame Sprite Stealth Bird Stealth Bird Cyber Jar Mask of Darkness Princess of Tsurugi Princess of Tsurugi Des Koala First of all, we're going to drop Cyber Jar and both Princesses. We'll also drop the Mask of Darkness. Cyber Jar has the bad habit of ending games very quickly, and since you don't have many monsters in your deck, it's not unlikely that your opponent will completely over-run you after triggering your Jar. Princess is okay, but there are better cards out there. Mask of Darkness isn't the best choice because you only run seven traps and you won't need to re-use them very much. I'm going to add another Des Koala. Most duelists try to maintain a large handsize in the current metagame, since hand advantage is crucial. You can easily do 1200-2000 damage with a single Koala. Plus, Des Koala has a very good defense and can act as a temporary wall. Next, I'm going to add two copies of Magician of Faith. You can use her to abuse Poison of the Old Man and, of course, the Trinity Cards. My final change to your monster line-up is the addition of Morphing Jar. Morphing Jar is coming out as a DB2 common and is far better than Cyber Jar. Onto your spells. Spells - {19} Level Limit - Area B Level Limit - Area B Messenger of Peace Reload Reload Meteor of Destruction Meteor of Destruction Meteor of Destruction Poison of the Old Man Poison of the Old Man Poison of the Old Man Pot of Greed Mystical Space Typhoon Tremendous Fire Dark Room of Nightmare Swords of Revealing Light Wave-Motion Cannon Wave-Motion Cannon Wave-Motion Cannon Both copies of Reload must go, along with one of your Meteor of Destructions. Dark Room of Nightmare just doesn't do enough extra damage to merit a precious deck slot. I'm going to add Delinquent Duo and Graceful Charity -- a deck just isn't competitive if it doesn't run the full Trinity. I'll also add two copies of Book of Moon and another Tremendous Fire. Tremendous Fire goes in over Meteor because it can be used even if your opponent has less than 3,000 LP, and Book of Moon is there for Magician of Faith abuse and because of its versatility. That means you're now running 14 monsters and 20 spells. We have room for 6 traps. Traps - {7} Gravity Bind Gravity Bind Ceasefire Ominous Fortunetelling Wall of Revealing Light (stupid weenies) Judgment of Anubis Secret Barrel Wall of Revealing Light will often lose the game for you, I fear. Your opponent will typically side-deck in Dust Tornadoes, maybe Mobius, and maybe Giant Trunade. I myself maindeck a Giant Trunade and Dust Tornado in addition to MST and Heavy Storm. Imagine paying 2000-3000 LP only to have your Wall returned to your hand -- ouch. Ominous Fortunetelling is too risky to run, and Judgment of Anubis is too situational. I'm going to add a copy of Magic Drain and a copy of Solemn Judgment. Solemn Judgment will protect you from Jinzo, and Magic Drain is a great spell negator. So here are all the changes I made: -1 Cyber Jar -2 Princess of Tsurughi -1 Mask of Darkness -1 Meteor of Destruction -1 Dark Room of Nightmare -2 Reload -1 Wall of Revealing Light -1 Ominous Fortunetelling -1 Judgment of Anubis +1 Des Koala +2 Magician of Faith +1 Morphing Jar +1 Graceful Charity +1 Delinquent Duo +2 Book of Moon +1 Tremendous Fire +1 Magic Drain +1 Solemn Judgment And here's your new deck: MONSTERS (14) 2 Lava Golem 2 Solar Flare Dragon 3 Raging Flame Sprite 2 Stealth Bird 1 Morphing Jar 2 Magician of Faith 2 Des Koala SPELLS (20) 2 Book of Moon 2 Level Limit - Area B 1 Messenger of Peace 2 Meteor of Destruction 3 Poison of the Old Man 1 Pot of Greed 1 Delinquent Duo 1 Graceful Charity 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Tremendous Fire 1 Swords of Revealing Light 3 Wave-Motion Cannon TRAPS (6) 2 Gravity Bind 1 Ceasefire 1 Secret Barrel 1 Solemn Judgment 1 Magic Drain Well, I hope you like your new deck, Toilet! You should have fewer bad topdecks now and maintain more board control. After you test the new build out, post here about whether or not it's anymore successful with the changes. If you want your deck to be featured and fixed in Vampy's Deck Garage, send it in! |
