The Dino Deck

On the surface, Dinosaurs appear to be a type that it would be impossible to focus a deck around. There are exactly 12 dinosaurs in the game of Yugioh -- compare that to the 150 Warriors! There’s just one Type with fewer monsters in it than Dinosaurs -- Sea Serpents. However, Dinosaurs have a few things going for them. They have a 2400-atk trampler, a fairly decent way to summon high-level monsters without tribute, and the ability to combo with the superior Reptile type (although there are only 18 Reptiles!)

Let’s look at key Dinosaur support cards:

Dark Driceratops
Level 6
EARTH
Dinosaur/Effect
When this card attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points.
2400/1500

2400 attack means Dark Driceratops can stand up to just about any 6-star and below monster, and 1500 defense means its not too easy for Tsukuyomi to kill. Its effect is what makes it a great card, and easily the best dinosaur out there. Trample is usually given to 1800-atk (Mefist the Infernal General) or 1900-atk (Airknght Parshath) monsters. Though Airknight and Mefist both have excellent secondary effects, Dark Driceratops is an indispensible card in any dino deck.

Hyper Hammerhead
Level 4
EARTH
Dinosaur/Effect
When this monster battles an opponent's monster, if the opponent's monster is not destroyed as a result of the battle, the opponent's monster is returned to its owner's hand at the end of the Damage Step.
1500/1200
This is probably the most playable of the Dinosaur 4-stars. Its effect allows it to bounce your opponent’s powerful monsters back to his/her hand. Not great, but with Dinosaurs, we have to take what we can get.

Gilasaurus
Level 4
EARTH
Dinosaur / Effect
You may treat the Normal Summon of this card as a Special Summon. If you select Special Summon, your opponent may select a Monster Card from his/her Graveyard and Special Summon the monster to the field.
1400/1200
This monster is excellent in the early game, but it’s terrible in the late game. I’d run 2 copies, max, as tribute fodder -- although in a properly constructed Dino deck you probably won’t need to.

Mad Sword Beast
EARTH
Dinosaur / Effect
When this card attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points.
1400/1200
This monster becomes quite good with Gaia Power on the field. Run 2-3 in your deck.

Monsters that you may or may not run in your Dino Deck:
*Black Tyranno
*Element Saurus
Black Tyranno’s effect is situational and his stats are subpar for a 7-star monster, but he becomes kinda playable if you consider our next card:

Ultra Evolution Pill
Normal Spell
Offer 1 Reptile-Type monster on your side of the field as a Tribute. Special Summon 1 Dinosaur-Type Monster from your hand.
This card is absolutely indispensible in any Dinosaur deck. Just tribute Sinister Serpent to bring out either Dark Driceratops or Black Tyranno.

Our final notable card for this deck is Gagagigo, a 4-star Reptile beatstick with stats of 1850/1000. Here’s a sample Dino Deck build:

MONSTERS (17)
1 Black Tyranno
3 Dark Driceratops
2 Gagagigo
2 Hyper Hammerhead
2 Mad Sword Beast
3 Giant Rat
1 Sinister Serpent
1 Tribe-Infecting Virus
1 Sangan
1 Morphing Jar

SPELLS (19)
1 Pot of Greed
1 Graceful Charity
1 Delinquent Duo
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Heavy Storm
1 Premature Burial
1 Snatch Steal
2 Nobleman of Crossout
3 Ultra Evolution Pill
1 Book of Moon
2 Swords of Concealing Light
1 Lightning Vortex
3 Gaia Power

TRAPS (4)
1 Mirror Force
1 Ring of Destruction
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Torrential Tribute

More Dino monsters are definately needed. It is sad how many or how few of them there are out there.
I will kill anyone who dares stand in my way of world conquest! *ehem* I mean, if I am opposed you shall indeed regret it!

they're not n00b at all. in fact, if u can play a decent deck with so limited resources, and win, u r better than those conformists that run Chaos. it takes no thought to run a chaos deck, with dinos, u'll have to be careful, b /c if ur not, u'll get run over. they just take all the more skill

you know, she's quite right... that's the reason no one in impressed with chaos anymore... i daon't mean any offense at all to anyone who runs iot, as i'm sure RFS doesn't as well, but here is my argument to anyone who uses CCC or CCCC:

If you are not confident enough in your own skill to do sowemething your own, why do you trust your skill enuogh to play at all???? Why steal frrom others what was once an original ide, if you're so sure you could be ghood therwise, that you don't NEED the solider, or anything like it..... I mean, I run, fiends, whihc can be quite cuttered, buit i think i did a pretty good job of keeping it orignial, didn;t I??? and kyp did a SPECTACULAR job with the originality of HIS chaos deck... so that's OK.... i mean, if you are just going, and happen to meet someone with a chaos decktype, that's fine, i mean, i'm not saying it isn't a viable strategy, i'm just sayuibng that so many people use it nowadays, the element of surprise is ruined, peopel sidedeck more to specifically kill YOU, and noone thinks you are good enough to do something your own... i mean, again, i mean no offense, but thi9nk about it, people.... chaos may win duels NOWM, but it is only a matter of time until eventuallly the soldier hits the banmlist or people begin coming up with side decks, completely designed to take chaos down.... and then you will have no cushy, broken cards to fall back on.... and when that joyous day approaches, good luck, and may God have mercy on your soul.
....that was a joke up above

.....ok no it wasn't.

.....Got you again.

I've never run this deck, so if anyone could YVD it and test it that would be great (I can't use YVD).

Yah, that would be awesome if a Dino deck was made and it stomped its competition.
And yes, as previously said, it takes much more skill and thought to create a Dino like deck then it ever would to build a Chaos deck.

If I had the cards, I would seriously try running a Dino deck at my next local tourney. Sure, the Chaos-Warriors would smash me, but I'd have fun!

lol, yah it is all about the fun right? ;)

Dinso would be a fun deck type to try out though. Pay it against different deck types to get a feel for it and to see what it needs to succeed.

yeah... it's like my bounce... noone runs full bounce anymore; that's why i picked it as my 1st type to try out, when i got the good cardss... and it seems to have worked exceedingly well for me, didn't it RFS? (she made it a draw with her stupid Rod, but i'd have won otherwise... gggrrr..)
