Rebirth of Atlantis: Part 1 Beatdown Water decks have the potential to be extremely powerful. Ever since A Legendary Ocean was released, Water Decks have been taking great strides toward becoming tournament-worthy. From Levia Dragon to the Gagagigo family to Amphibious Bugroth MK-3, the WATER element contains beatsticks, a miniature-CED, the second-best field spell in the game, and a lot of room for diversity and experimentation. So let’s say that you want to build your very own Water deck. First of all, you need to keep in mind that there are various types of Water decks. Here are the three major ones: *Beatdown *Orca Mega Fortress of Doom *Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 There are also many less prevalent water decks. These include Fenrir-Lock and Legendary Fisherman decks. I’m only going to cover the Big 3 types, but feel free to experiment with others. This article, the first in the series, will cover the ALO Beatdown Deck. Let’s look at some notable cards that give this deck tons of power: A Legendary Ocean Normal Spell This card's name is treated as "Umi". Downgrade all WATER monsters in both player's hands and on the field by 1 Level. Increases the ATK and DEF of all WATER monsters by 200 points. This is the foundation of our deck. This amazing Field Spell allows your Level 4 monsters to slip under Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area B, your Level 5 monsters to be summoned without tribute, and your Level 7 monsters to be summoned for just one tribute! In addition, it gives your monsters a 200-point atk boost. Only Necrovalley is a better Field Spell than this wondrous card. Run 3 copies of this card and 2 Terraforming to search it out. Mobius the Frost Monarch Level 6 WATER Aqua/Effect When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, you can destroy up to 2 Spell or Trap cards on the field. 2400/1000 Mobius is such a potent card that he’s often sideboarded outside of ALO decks to deal with burn and is mainboarded in some CCC decks as a cheap Jinzo alternative. Since he’s Level 6, rather than 5, and needs to be Tribute Summoned to get his effect, we’ll run just 1 copy of Mobius. Gagagigo Level 4 WATER Reptile This young evildoer used to have an evil heart but by meeting a special person he discovered justice. 1850/1000 This is a great beatstick that will be run in 3s in our ALO deck. Giga Gagagigo Level 5 WATER Reptile In order to fight tremendous evil, he gained formidable power through body reconstruction, but lost his heart and his redemption. 2450/1500 Our little beatstick has grown up into a destructive behemoth! With ALO on the field, you can summon this guy without tribute -- a 2650 4-star monster! We’ll run 2 copies of him, although you can try three if you’d like. Abyss Soldier Level 4 WATER Aqua/Effect Discard 1 WATER monster from your hand to the Graveyard. Return 1 card on the field to the owner's hand. You can only use this effect once per turn, during your Main Phase. 1800/1300 An awesome monster that we’ll run 2 copies of. Discard Sinister Seprent to bounce a card on the field back to the owner’s hand -- an incredibly versatile effect. It’s hard to obtain, though, so if you can’t get one run 2 1800-water beatsticks without effects in its place. Levia Dragon -- Daedalus Level 7 WATER Sea Serpent/Effect Send "Umi" on your side of the field to the Graveyard to destroy all cards on the field except this card. 2600/1500 This card is just plain amazing. It has an effect similar to Chaos Emperor Dragon’s, except it only hits the field, doesn’t cost any Life Points, and doesn’t kill itself. So you have about an 85% chance of hitting your opponent for 2600 direct damage the turn you use this effect -- just watch out for annoying cards like Waboku and Compulsory Evacuation Device. The WATER deck has three 1800-atk beatsticks with no effect -- Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness, 7-Colored Fish, and Giant Red Seasnake. Run these if you have some spare slots. Since it turns out Abyss Soldier is limited, I'll run a 7-Colored Fish because it's the coolest of them. Mermaid Knight Level 4 Aqua/Effect If “Umi” is face-up on your side of the field, this card may attack twice during the same Battle Phase. 1500/700 A great Mataza the Zapper-type card for your ALO deck. This card does even better in an Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 deck, but she’s still quite good here. Run a copy of her. Sinister Serpent and Tribe-Infecting Virus are water monsters that are found in almost every deck out there, so there’s no need to explain them. Okay, that covers this deck’s notable cards. On to a sample ALO Beatdown Deck! MONSTERS (18) 1 Levia Dragon -- Daedalus 1 Mobius the Forst Monarch 2 Giga Gagagigo 3 Gagagigo 1 7-Colored Fish 2 Abyss Soldier 1 Mermaid Knight 1 Tribe-Infecting Virus 1 Sinister Serpent 1 Sangan 1 Morphing Jar 1 Breaker the Magical Warrior 2 Magician of Faith SPELLS (16) 1 Pot of Greed 1 Graceful Charity 1 Delinquent Duo 1 Snatch Steal 1 Premature Burial 1 Heavy Storm 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 3 A Legendary Ocean 2 Terraforming 1 Lightning Vortex 2 Nobleman of Crossout 1 Scapegoat TRAPS (6) 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Ring of Destruction 1 Mirror Force 1 Call of the Haunted 2 Dust Tornado |

It is? Let me check the site ... meep, you're right. Poor choice for them to restrict, he's not that powerful ... but I shall edit the deck. |
