 My reckless use of this message board to fulfill my every whim -- the Basement, my fiction on which I placed such overblown emphasis -- was a sign of immaturity and thoughtlessness.

I destroyed this community through negligence and ignorance. I built it, but within a few months had sent it sliding down the slope toward the precipice. And now, of course, it's been wholly dead for more than a year, the last vestiges of activity long departed.

Can we rebuild it? Can we keep those topics and posts worth reading, and those users who stuck with this board to the end -- kingy and tea's especially -- and purge the rest, and then rebuild?

 It's been way to long since this site's been normal. If you can fidn the rest, than let's do this thing. What do you know of RFS, Apoc, Kyp, Kingy, lock, and the rest of them?

 I can't see RFS and Kyp coming back because of the falling-out we had. I don't harbor any bad feelings against them -- it's been so long, and our fight was so ridiculous. But it would be awkward to get in touch with one of them again ... and I don't have contact info for either. -- Actually, I remembered RFS's old AIM screenname as I was typing that last sentence. Amazing, the human mind.

I'm not sure what happened to Kingy. It's been more than a year since I've spoken to him. It's been even longer since I've spoken to Apoc, but she might be amenable to returning.

I would love to get ToiletPaper back as well, but beyond that, none of our old members stand out in my mind. You, Kingy, Apoc, RFS, Kyp, me, ToiletPaper up until he disappeared, and K10 up until he vanished (he's been gone the longest; he left while the board was still in its prime) were the core of this place. There were other good members, but they have faded into memory.

I feel awful for having to ask, but ... who's lock? I should remember this kind of thing, but I don't ...

 Also, in saying that Yugioh as a game is a "fraction of its former self," was I too hasty? I don't have a clue as to the current state of Yugioh. It's been a long, long time since I read Pojo and Metagame everyday. Tea's, how familiar are you with the current state of things? Do you still know other duelists in person? How's the tournament scene in your community?

Lurkers, I'd be delighted if you'd chime in on this question: what's up in the Yugioh world?

 Post #1: Lock was someone who joined towards the end. A good dueling mind and a staff writer for a very short while, but he left a little after joining when he saw what noobs some of us (myself included) were. I'm not sur eof what happened to any of them either, but I may be able to find a few if I REALLY try... and you know how stubborn I can be.

Post #2: Yeah, saying the game ws a shell of it's former self was a bit hasty. They've brought back secret rares, and kept ultimates going, and it's still a rich man's game. However, the ban lists are awesome currently, with at least twelve competitive decks consistently seeing play, and more waiting to be discovered! The game's healthy and fun as ever, with a bigger card pool to play with. If I weren't so anti-meta, I'd be winning all the time.

 Ah, cool, I always loved the look of secret rares. For a while -- this was years and years ago -- I was playing with Gaia the Dragon Champion and Serpent Knight Dragon in my deck because they were just so beautiful.

 I know how you feel... I've yet to pull a secret, though. >cry<

Here's an interesting thing though, we now have soem cards that japan does not.

Look up the following US exclusive (and pretty cool) cards:
Skreech
Tongue Twister
Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
Dragon Ice


There are a few others, but I can't seem to recall any.

 I remember the days when only the Japanese had such highly desirable cards (to my twelve-year-old self, at least) as the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. (!!! :wacko: :D )
